WBO Committees
Communications This committee is responsible for internal and external communications to include writing and compiling The WBO Informer newsletter, creating meeting flyers for distribution to various outlets, updating and maintaining the organization website, coordinating with media outlets to ensure information share of WBO meetings and sending emails to WBO database about all meetings, alerts and special events. Subcommittees include Publicity, Newsletter, Website and Promotions. There are currently no additional members
Fundraising This committee designs and plans organization fundraisers that benefit the Business Grant Award. Some fundraisers to date include spa gift cards, networking teas, and wine tastings. There are currently no additional members.
Gala This committee is responsible for the planning and execution of annual gala to Include venue and vendor negotiation, sponsorship solicitation and coordination, logistical management. This committee functions as event planners to include the coordination of program components and flow, budget maintenance and communication conduit for both the board, and general membership. Members include Dawn Jackson, Carole Morton, Donna Arrington, and Taren Coleman
Grant The Grant Committee is responsible for the development of the WBO-PGC Business Grant application and instruction, to include terms, selection criteria and process. They also review submitted applications for selection and grant award. Members include Leslie Branson, Saundra Walker-Harris and Evelyn English.
Government Affairs This committee is responsible for the primary communication and information exchange between the WBO, the Prince Georges County government and other legislative bodies, including the state legislature and Congress. This committee also functions as a primary source of information for the organization with regard to legislation effecting small businesses. There are currently no other members.
Membership This committee is responsible for coordinating membership activities including the processing of new members, updating membership rosters, renewing memberships, holding membership drives and checking members and guests in at monthly meetings. Sub-committees include: Database Management and Hospitality
Program Planning & Special Events This committee is responsible for the planning of monthly meetings and any special events. Duties include the research and coordination of guest speakers and negotiation of terms for any event outside regular meeting. There are currently no additional members.
Special Projects This committee plans all projects outside of any falling under the guise of other committees. This includes WBO-PGC’s participation in sponsorship or fundraising activities (i.e. races, telethons, etc.) outside the organization. There are currently no committee members. |
